2008 Introduction: Soldier’s Joy
SOLDIER’S JOY
(Moore / Woodhall)
Dormant-SEv Mid 28″ scapes 5-6″ flower 4-5 way branching with 25 buds – Rebloom
E006-01: (Old King Cole X Ron Valente)
Soldier’s Joy was my first introduction and also the first using Steve Moldovan’s wonderful daylily honoring Ron Valente. The name is derived from an old Bluegrass song.
The flower is a purple bi-tone with a silvery-violet watermark in which the darker purple veining gives the impression of a pattern within the watermark.
A maroon band on one side and a bluish band on the other separate this watermark from the petal and throat. The petals are double edged by a narrow purple edge and white picotee. Has been used extensively in the breeding program both at Moldovan’s Gardens and at Garden of Eaton.
$75.00
*I am only able to offer Soldier’s Joy for fall shipment in 2010.*
