Cyber Monday

Cyber Monday

(Moore, E.D.)

(Key to My Heart X ((King Arthur’s Court x Tet. Altissima x Constantinople)))

Ev – Sev  early- mid 30” scapes 6” flowers 3 way branching averaging 18 buds

This type of flower is difficult to describe but I will try my best. In my approximation the dark color is an eye and the pink edging is a self color. The boldly triangular eye of Cyber Monday is a scarlet burgundy color and is more defined following cooler nights. Underlying the burgundy shades is a pink-rouge outline surrounded by a white filigree edge. The burgundy triangle is often mottled by pink patches adding further interest to the flower. There is a watermark of the same color as the pink-rouge base and is often layered. The sepals are of the same color as the pink edging providing a bi-tone appearance.

In years past this flower would have been considered patterned by most, by me it still is. According to my observations, Cyber Monday holds up to the heat of the sun as well as any of its type. The flowers are held on the top branched scapes just above the foliage. I prefer daylilies to have flowers carried high above the foliage so to me this has always been considered a flaw. However so many have fancied this cultivar that upon their urging I introduce Cyber Monday. It is the pod parent of one of my most exciting triangular eyed seedlings. Fertile both ways.
