Mighty Empress

Mighty Empress

(Moore, E.D.)

(Flying Trapeze X (Samurai Sword x Morticia))

Sev. E-Mid. 30”scapes 7- 8” flowers 3 way branching averages 16 buds

If you are someone who likes size in your flowers this may be the cultivar for you. The first blooms open at 8 inches and as the season develops settle down to closer to 7 inches. In addition to flower size the fans of Mighty Empress are also quite large. This rose pink blend has an impressive “in-your-face” presentation in bloom that can never be ignored. The watermark is more of a coral pink shade and is set off by the green throat. When this cross was made I of course was hoping to make strides in variant breeding.

I continue to believe this cultivar will prove a valuable parent for me in my variant pursuits. Among the first cultivars registered involving Flying Trapeze as a parent.  It seems the wider ancestors of this cultivar have dominated and produced a large full sized daylily. Fertile both ways.
